Moonlighting - By Karen Ellyard

February 2012

Heaven and Hell, they live within us.

This may be a challenging thought but I really believe we create our heaven or our hell based on our perception.
We will all have difficult times to face on our journey. I believe the trick is not to dwell there any longer than we have to. We need to just stay in the light with our thoughts and try to move forward.
The problem often is that people look for success in the wrong places and then get disgruntled when they don’t find what they are looking for. During the hard or painful times in my life, were the times where I learnt the most about myself and what I needed to change to move forward.
I have found that when I hold onto bad memories or hurts and focus on the deadly trap of “poor me” that is when my light dims and I find myself in hell. Looking for the blessings in disguise strengthens the light and takes me into heaven. I wish we could learn as much from the easy times but it does not seem to work that way. I need to learn so I can move forward and help others.
Life is a series of choices and sometimes we allow ourselves to get swept along in the drama and emotions of a situation and before

we know it our life can become a form of hell.
We choose our perceptions in all things. Here are some examples – Getting annoyed because our children put their handprints all over the window I just cleaned instead of seeing the hand behind the print and rejoicing.
Nursing the hurt of relationships instead of seeing the lesson we were meant to learn to help us grow.
I love the saying when life gives you lemons make lemonade.
I truly believe seeing the blessing in disguise is like taking threads of gold and weaving it through the tapestry of your heart, a true gift from the soul.
How can we feel a child hands slip into ours, look into a baby’s eyes or watch the wonders in nature without feeling joy and realizing we are in heaven?
In a time where life can be so very busy, stress filled and can mow us down in our tracks, take a moment to look for the blessing in disguise, find your heaven and revel in the joy and peace there.

I wish you a life filled with great love, joy and wondrous heavenly moments.

Love & cheers

take five

Take a moment to focus on the blessings in your life. Sit, relax, close eyes and concentrate on your breathing. Think about the things in your life you can be thankful for. Picture each of them one and give thanks for them. Try to work on at least 5 each day.
